       Rachael has been recognized as a music therapist since 2001. She has worked in a hospital setting in General Medicine, Long Term Care facilities, and a private studio supporting those with autism, acquired brain injury and mental illness.
        Rachael served as the president of the Music Therapy Association of Ontario from 2010-2014, and was the recipient of the YWCA Woman of Distinction Award, for Healthcare in 2015. An advocate for educating people about music therapy, she brought 2 music therapy courses to McMaster University in 2010, which she continues to teach. Rachael has presented her research about music therapy as an intervention for pain management, and supervises McMaster University independent study and thesis students. Topics have included music therapy and cognition, music therapy post lung surgery, music therapy and behaviours in Long Term Care, and several systematic literature reviews including music therapy and autism, mental health, and community music therapy.

An Instrument For Every Child, of which she is the Education Consultant.
     In supporting music and health research, Rachael is the co-chair for the Take Your Seat campaign for the LIVElab at McMaster University. Her passion for Raising The Bar In Health Care lead to the creation and launch of the Ontario Music Therapy Academy.
