Julia Bissessar is a classically trained pianist who is completing her fourth-year Honours B.A in Psychology, Neuroscience and Behaviour with the Music Cognition Specialization at McMaster University. She is completing her thesis in the MAPLE Lab this year focusing on the best methods of delivering post-secondary music psychology education in online learning environments. Julia was the secretary for the McMaster Music Cognition Society last year and is a member of McMaster’s Mac Dance Recreational Team. Julia also plays the saxophone and ukulele.
Julia enjoys a variety of activities outside of academics. She teaches piano to students of all ages at the Tabone Academy of Music and The Music Stand, both located in Hamilton, ON. Julia plans on applying to Wilfred Laurier University’s Masters of Music Therapy program to pursue a career as a music therapist.
