Kristen is a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) with Music Therapist Accreditation (MTA) working in private practice in Burlington, ON. With a diverse set of skills and background experience Kristen works with clients of a variety of ages and having diagnoses including Acquired Brain Injury, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Alzheimer’s, Dementias, Down syndrome, Palliative Care and Bereavement.
Kristen is a skilled musician with piano as her primary instrument. Training includes classical, jazz, improvisation and voice. She also plays guitar, and uses it regularly in practice. Song-writing is a passion of Kristen’s and she facilitates this for her clients as well.
Kristen completed advanced training in Dr. Diane Austin’s Vocal Psychotherapy™ (AVP) method which focuses on the voice in depth psychology. It is "the use of breath, natural sounds, toning, singing, vocal improvisation and words in the service of intra-psychic and interpersonal connection to promote growth and change". (DianeAustin.com) Kristen became a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario in 2015 and is a member in good standing of both the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (CAMT) and the Music Therapy Association of Ontario (MTAO).
