Hello! My name is Tiffany Gabriella Harianto, and I am in my third year of the Bachelor of Health Sciences Program at McMaster University. I am also working towards a minor in psychology, and I enjoy learning from a variety of fields. In my second year, I enrolled in an Introduction to Music Therapy (MUSIC 2MT3). I was curious about this course because I come from a musical background—I’ve been playing piano for years, and I also volunteered in a band to serve in the music ministry of my local parish—and I was excited to learn about how music can be used in therapy when facilitated by a music therapist. I was inspired when Rachael Finnerty demonstrated music therapy techniques in class, so I reached out to join the MTA mentorship program, where I will be reviewing the literature on music therapy and heart rate variability.
